Full description

Our excursion starts in the small town of Elounda. We will take a traditional boat from the small port and sail across the Mirabello Bay to the island of Spinalonga.

During the tour, our guide will be with you to show you Greek culture, the history of Crete, and famous local landmarks.

When you arrive at the island of Spinalonga, you will first learn about its history from the tour guide before having free time to explore.

The fortress island of Spinalonga has a rich history, from a Venetian fortress that protected the island from pirates to a large leper colony. Today, there is no danger on the island, and visitors can explore the well-preserved fortress, walk along the fortress walls, and take beautiful photos.

After visiting Spinalonga, you’ll return to Elounda. Elounda is a popular tourist area in Crete where there are usually no waves because the mountains protect the bay. You’ll have some free time here to swim and enjoy fresh seafood dishes at local taverns and restaurants.

Next, you will go to Agios Nikolaos, the capital of the Lasithi region. The city has a unique architecture that you won’t see in any other city on Crete. You’ll take a walk through the city center and stop at the freshwater lake Voulismeni, which is very deep (64m) and wide (over 130m). You’ll learn secrets and legends about the lake. Then, you’ll have some free time to buy local souvenirs and products.

At the end of the tour, you will visit an olive oil factory near Agios Nikolaos. You’ll learn about how olive oil is made, the different types of olives, the acidity of the oil, and other interesting information. You can also try various types of oil and olive products and purchase them at affordable prices.
